I have chosen to make Breast Cancer Awareness the cause of choice for gdesign. It’s a worthy cause seeking to eradicate a terrible disease that affects far too many of us (a staggering 1 out of 8!). The compelling reason for me personally, however, is that a good friend of mine has recently become a breast cancer survivor. She is my 4th (!!) friend to survive breast cancer, and I decided it was time for me to do something. Through gdesign I hope to raise awareness, as well as money, to help wipe out this disease. |
Each year, I will offer Breast Cancer Jewels, co-designed by a breast cancer survivor with 50% of the proceeds donated to a charitable organization chosen by the breast cancer survivor. This year’s Breast Cancer Jewels is a bracelet duo, co-designed by my friend, Deb, who just got her clean bill of health in January I am happy to say. She has chosen to give the proceeds to Reaching Out, an organization she found to be the most helpful to her.
I hope you will join me in this effort to fight breast cancer. Through your purchase you will be doing something beautiful for yourself and for your fellow sisters. -- Gail
Breast Cancer Jewels for 2009 is a bracelet duo, named Deb’s Duo. Deb favors clean, simple lines so the duo is a beautiful pink-hued art-glass bauble with a magical glow encircling the wrist with simple sterling silver links and a ribbon-motif clasp. The bracelet is $100 and the matching earrings are $50. They are available separately or together. NEW! For October's Breast Cancer Awareness month...a matching necklace, also $100. Deb wanted a necklace to go with her duo so here it is. Remember, 50% of every Breast Cancer Awareness purchase is donated to a breast cancer charity.

Please visit them for more info: www.breastcancerstories.org Wendy has a very nice site with lots of info and best of all, stories. www.castingforrecovery.org Innovative program for recovering survivors centered around fly fishing retreats. As an occasional fly-fisher myself, I could see how this would be soul-calming, restorative kind of weekend.
